THE HATE U GIVE

This year has been a great time for diverse movies, offering a bit for everyone and I enjoyed every bite. Horror is my obvious go to and take up much of this list, but other genres stole my heart as well. I had a hard time coming up with my ten favorites so I thought why not just go for 18 for 2018. This year has been pretty fucking awesome in movies. I was hard for me to narrow down my favorites, but I tried my best to stick to personal favorites rather than try to sound pretentious by including indies that might not have stayed with me as much as some of the theatrical releases. While, as usual, most of them are horror, my tastes can vary and this list reflects that.  (more…)

2016 was legit such a great for movies, especially in the horror genre. With it becoming mainstream in recent years, we’ve seen different types of actors and filmmakers embrace it. This allows various styles to take the reign and make their mark in both traditional and absurd stories that play with conventions. My favorites from this year play off of the unconventional as some might not easily fall into horror, but as a horror fan, these are the movies I ended up loving. (more…)

When it comes to discussion of horror movies, many forms of subgenres come to mind. From slasher flicks to possession horror, the list of subgenres tends to go on and on. Although it might not be a subgenre as it one would probably classify this as supernatural horror, movies whose plots heavily involve mirrors tend to scare me more easily than others. As the year comes to an end, the traditional top 10 lists start popping up and I am no different. With that, I am putting out there that I have NOT seen every movie that was released this year. Two movies I heard plenty of positive buzz about that I still haven’t seen, but plan on watching are “Boyhood” and “Interstellar.” I enjoy all genres, but my heart lies in horror which definitely explains the majority of my picks.
